Today, stuff is going to happen. Someone will say something to you.
You’ll get an alert on your phone about some negative happening in the world. The weather might turn sour. The line at your favorite lunch place will be too long.
A close friend could call with news of a cancer diagnosis. This is the stimulus. This is the world reaching out and shoving you. The question is, what will you do about it? What will your reaction be?

Emotional Intelligence (EQ) & Creativity Coaching
Our emotions are like landscapes in the midst of seasons.
Once you learn to handle your winters, enjoy your springs, embrace your falls and acknowledge the fruits of your summers you can creatively handle life and its adversities.
External stimuli are just like seasons. They may be mild or harsh, they may bring sunshine or thunderstorms. One thing is sure: we don't have control over them. However, what we can control is our internal climate, our emotional state, in order to productively cope with all possible ups and downs that life brings our way.
Every emotion is a response. A complex psychological state that involves three distinct components: a subjective experience, a physiological response, and a behavioral or expressive response. Our emotional responses dictate our decisions and our decisions dictate our actions which in turn shape our lives.
Emotional intelligence is the ability to identify and manage your own emotions and the emotions of others. It generally includes three skills: emotional awareness, control of emotions and management of emotions. Easier said than done, right?
Just think about it: once we are experiencing disempowering feelings and emotions, it seems difficult to shift to neutral or to positive. Our emotional landscape is at the mercy of external stimuli. Just like a winter storm sweeps away everything in its path. We’d rather languish in our anger or anxiety or other forms of stress because we’re comfortable in the chaos and because we are choosing not to stay present, to lament about what happened to us (past) or what may happen to us (future).
